Treat baby collicks using these best tips

Colic in babies can be defined as intermittent crying one or two times a day by a healthy, well-fed child. Usually, such crying bouts last for a few hours daily and occur at least three times a week for more than three weeks. This problem is found in 5 to 25% of infants at some point.

It starts when a baby is 2 or 3 weeks old and resolves gradually within a few months, usually by the time the baby is 4 to 6 months old. At times, it can be a problem in older babies, too.

Reason is that air trapped in the abdominal cavity leads to pain and discomfort. Also, babies born to mothers who smoked during pregnancy or after delivery have a greater risk of developing colic.

Symptoms of colic include pain, crying, moaning, finicky behavior and cramping. In severe cases, babies can also show symptoms like frequent vomiting, a change in stools, unstable body temperature, poor weight gain and fatigue. Read these tips to treat colics!
